Welcome Everyone!

    My name is Zouhair, owner and operator of Zouhair's Aviary established in 2006. From my humble beginnings upon the rooftop of my childhood home in  Mohammedia Morocco, my love for birds began. 

    I started raising chickens and pigeons on the roof of my Mother's home  using a homemade simple iron frame and some chicken wire. To this day the bloodline of my pigeons are still in many of the birds there racing today. I participated in racing pigeons all throughout Morocco for several years. However, I wanted to widen my horizon and decided to travel to America at age 24.

  After arriving in America I went straight to working odd jobs and improving my English as I could read and write but could not speak well. I had given up my hobby for quite a few years while I established myself in my new home. I married, had children, and moved several times. When I finally settled in a place and job that I enjoyed, I began researching local breeders. I decided to go the route of Canaries and finches this time around ,as I could never house pigeons or chickens in my new urban home. 

   I started small with a few basic cages. I purchased a few European Goldfinches and Canaries and began breeding them myself. The more breeders I met , the more knowledge I gained on how to house and care for them in a city environment. 

    Now I have a beautiful room of professional cages, and have mastered breeding many different kinds of African and European finches. I pride myself in the care and maintenance of my little aviary, with the help of my family we have really managed to become successful. 

   My dream is to one day travel to Europe to gain knowledge from professionals that I have managed to befriend over the years and enter my birds into competitions here in the USA. I also dream of one day owning my own shop.
